Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Ok...here's a question that may sound silly but I seriously do not know. I want to begin my maiden voyage into the land of Batorville with my own home laid eggs. It is cold here. I collect eggs in the evenings, and the eggs get cold...sometimes down to freezing. Question...What is the lowest temp an egg can get to and remain hatchable? You chicken folk are far more full of knowledge than anyone I know.

If an egg gets frozen it is unlikely to develop.
I have 3 dozen trader joes eggs developing in the bator now. They had probably sat in a chilled room/cabinet at 4 degrees c for at least a week (maybe 2 ) before being set.

2/3 started developing. Down to half now - but drop off likley due to egg age at setting (and maybe having been chilled).

Thanks for the info! Much appreciated! None have been frozen yet, but way close to it.

When the egg is frozen and cracks, I have had minor issues with cold eggs from the coops, sometimes when it gets extremely cold and the eggs do freeze you should candle them to look for cracks, when you bring them in the cracks can easily be missed by our eye, but a candle you should see the small cracks. Miss Sally, you too are one of my chicken heros! I have seen your posts and threads often. You and Oz must be siblings or something with all that knowledge! WOW! Thank you for taking the time to post all this stuff for me. I truly feel special! Many thanks!
Just one problem...your chicken pics. Do you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING TO ME??? LMHAO! I live in the largest city in my state so am limited to how many chickens I can have, and you make it HARD! They are amazing!!! I must have the white faced chickens one day. I was an elected member of city government, and am supposed to set an example by abiding by the laws. The laws say 5 hens. I'm already in excess at 13 hens and 2 roos...and you tempt me kind lady!! You so temp me. Thank you. You're quite amazing and I feel as I know you, and several others on this thread.
On another note...you made me spit coffee out my nose reading about your first chicken you and your husband processed. Great read!!!

Aww but you can explain the excess with chicken math.... Chicks dont count Bantams dont count Well may be one and a half bantams count as one .... Roos Naw they are just rare calling ground fowl. Then play rooster song on the computer mix it with some quail and peacock too. or Guinea Fowl...

just kidding but I know people who keep their roosters in a rooster box after six or seven pm... sound proof.
