We also have to name the young boar. The orange colored Duroc cross is Trumpy. I am tempted to call the fair skinned with white hair Bernie but we had a Bernie already on the farm.

Typically they get some sort of macho name. His father is Maximus. Maybe we will stick to the Roman theme.

I asked the boys for their input and they said Titus hands down.

The pig's name is settled.

Pig 19's AI attempt was unsuccessful as she came on heat yesterday, Fortunately the orange haired Trumpy was around. He was called to duty.

Its now day 22 since his first call and pig 20 shows no signs of returning to estrus. It looks like your Trumpy is not getting fired.

These look like Landrace pigs.

Yes they are landrace. They have been selevtively bred for three generations by us and we now have a pig we are proud of.

Well you should be. We have raised them for years. We like to slaughter them by 225 pounds but brood stock can reach a thousand pounds and more.
