Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Someone on another thread is discussing A.I. with rare breed sperm sent from Spain, trying to figure out if it's possible. Maybe an avenue to explore for your buff orps?

Congrats on the quail success!
ay ay ay chicken sperm lol

i already have plans for pig sperm in my golf bag. chicken sperm should not take up too much space although in my case, it would not speed up the process much and would make the birds way less genetically diverse.

How on EARTH do they harvest chicken sperm? I mean.. I have seen how they do horses/bulls/pigs etc. Doesn't seem to me you could do that with a rooster

Its actually pretty simple though I have only been told this.... a friend raises silkeys and does collection and AI on her show stock. She uses an eye dropper. Niether the Roo nor the hen seem to mind....

Chickens reproductive process is very simple The mating part anyway...

You should listen to somebody tell about milking seasoned toms in a big house, he said they walkup to you and lift wing and gobble & wait & gobble &wait. I about died when he was telling how his night went. Try U-Tube

oh this could spiral...

I went to a local meet up and saw an AI demonstration with banty cochins. It was enlightening.

I took Mrs Oz to a Valentines Day Roar and Snore camping trip tp San Diego Wild Animal Park. We had a tent with a queen bed covered in rose petals. As it was Valentine's day, the theme for the night was animal reproduction. The AI demonstation we saw live? - Indian elephants.

The adventure continues............

say WHAT!!!! thats way cool, HOW on earth do you find this stuff LOL
Australians, well at least those of my generation, dont take Valentines Day very seriously. I was schooled very quickly by my romantic Asian wife.

So for the last 19 Valentines day's I have tried do do something different. One year we went to the Lucha Libre Mexican wrestling and burlesque show. That was a trip. I have a blue and silver wrestling mask from the concession stands. With a little effort you can find a myriad of different adventures and cultural experiences. Its all about jumping into life.

These days its a bit tough as I have to pick my holidays to be together and Valentines day is not a public paid holiday so the good wife gets a few doz roses. This year she will be in Bali hanging out with Balinese royalty.
