It is used already by our grandfathers long before i have read that article & we just followed their experienced Sir Oz. They are the people that taught us how to use it. What we do before is we just cut the betel into 8 equal parts & give 1 part to each adult chicken. Half of 1 part to cockerels.Let me see.... lol
There are no "natural" tapeworm killers in usa market that I know
Market it in byc flock sizes
See what you started Don Senor Rollito?
I like your local experience sir
last summer one of my guineas hung itself on a piece of string that I had left in the pen, one of those little pieces of trash that come off the top of a feed sack.I firmly believe coturnix plot suicide. Our first adventure saw them drown so we had to cut plastic mesh and place it in the brooder water bottles.
Today we found 5 dead quail in 3 condos that had jammed themselves around the corner in 2" pipe feeders. Sheesh.
Pipe feeders out, chick feeders in

Ma'am in our place in Cauayan just like Cocobeach of Sir Oz, near the shore line, our gamefowls before, by nature, get rid of their external parasite (lice & mite) through 'sand bath'.So twice a week we cord our gamefowl in a sandy area directly under the sunlight for that purpose & it keep their feathers free of mites & lice.did some reading on Betel Nut.... Very interesting The nut comes from a fruit that grows on the Areca palm. That fruit is considered a drupe because the nut is inside the fruit... Much like peaches and plums and Almonds and cashews.

Id be surprised if you could source this in the US.... Maybe at Asian groceries???. People chew it for a similar effect as coffee...
For what its worth Tobacco is also a decent wormer.
I am assuming both work on parasites within the gut? I couldnt read the abstract.... on Betel nut....
Oh and by the way I finally figured out why fireplace ashes are a good dusting medium for controlling external parasites on chickens. It was an AHAA moment when I was researching natural sources for Baking Soda.... When you soak ashes with water they produce potash or Lye.

Every three months. But we usually check the chicken poo every morning for some signs of parasites infection cause our chickens before (the 'visaya') are just set loose/free & only coop at night. Once we saw some signs we give the nut.how often?

Not my immediate family circle Sir Oz. It is the Immediate family of my relative that is in politics. My father and my grandfather are carpenters by trade and we grow up engaged in carpentry, masonry; and plumbing works, till we finished our schooling.I acquired experienced that enriched my knowledge, through what we call 'University of Hardknocks', where everything you learned is hands on.Don Senor Rolito's family is one of the political dynasty families of Cauayan
