Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Not my immediate family circle Sir Oz. It is the Immediate family of my relative that is in politics. My father and my grandfather are carpenters by trade and we grow up engaged in carpentry, masonry; and plumbing works, till we finished our schooling.I acquired experienced that enriched my knowledge, through what we call 'University of Hardknocks', where everything you learned is hands on.
Ah OK - The Mayor, Vice Mayor, and two councellors bear the name of Rolito.

My wifes family has always avoided that world.

I went to the same University - different campus

Lol! Same with me Sir Oz. I prefer to raise chickens & plant fruit trees & vegetables than to enter politics.A simple life, is a happy life.

to you two!

Thanks for the responses on quail and ashes!

Another question...is the Brinsea incubator any good? I used our neighbors styrofoam hovabator last year and want to buy one of our own this year. The Brinsea mini is too small (only does 7 eggs) so I was thinking of going with the larger Octagon one...you can do up to 24 eggs at a time. That's perfect for us. We only have a small operation out there, lol.

Brinsea make the best smaller incubators IMO.
I also have the Brinsea cabinate and totally love it.

I was going to ask Santa for the little one.... but that bigger one looks real nice too.

This chicken hobby is getting dangerous, fast. I don't know what I would do with all those babies

The little one is just too small...7 eggs is not enough. I want to be able to hatch at least 12 at a time.

As for what to do with all of those babies...well...most of mine are going in the pot, lol. I can overwinter a max of ten birds. For now anyways....wonder if hubby would mind building me a bigger chicken coop before he builds his garage???

I dont own one but sometimes I wish I did to use a control against my bators.

I have a Genesis 1588 here in OC. Apart from the fact that the styro could break, its a pretty fool proof bator.

In saying that, if you can get someone to buy the supa dupa octo bata then get one!!!
