I just had to share this, it owns me, every time I watch it. I just hope those aren't Campine eggs!

On Feb 1st Bernie set 33 eggs. It is now the morning of the 25th. We have 31 hatched with one pipping.

Ladies and gents, we are at 94% on local eggs.

Hatch dates for the eggs set on March 1 will be very exciting.

After feeling pressure from here to not put some mutts in the freezer, I sent Bernie to the Market to sell a trio as an experiment. The mean copper marans roo brought $4.60. The 13 month old layers went for $3.45 each. There were sold separately so they will be in the pot somewhere tonight. I ended up with enough to buy half a sack of rice bran.

At least I tried.

i am shocked that no one there wanted them for breeding stock

but i understand many people in the "PI" only think about where their next meal will come from.

it was a pretty small market, maybe a bigger one will bring better informed buyers.

as long as the mean roo goes in a pot and not in a ring, I'll be happy.
