Ok Sir. Thank you.they arent mine - it was an example, but noted
it was a pretty small market, maybe a bigger one will bring better informed buyers.
as long as the mean roo goes in a pot and not in a ring, I'll be happy.
large fowl are too heavy (above the weight limit) so they can't go in the ring as far as i know
No dramaMy apologies then!![]()
our 100% hatch is doing well,Absolutely!
Any news in the chicken department? We bought some babies yesterday.. nothing fancy. Barred rocks and white rocks. I've got two white rocks already and I really like their temperament. Very easy going, low maintenance birds.
We're trying a heat plate instead of a heat lamp this time. Really loving the results. The chicks are acting more natural.
Congrats! You won't regret it. I would recommend posting a Want to buy ad on Craigslist. I was looking on craigslist the other day and ran across someone that wants to buy EE chicks, so I sent her an email and she is picking them up tomorrow. Also try your local thread on BYCI convinced the hubby to let me buy the Brinsea!!! YAY!!!!
So...can you guys tell me the best place to buy hatching eggs from? I'm looking for Australorp, Orpington (I don't care which color), and Speckled Sussex. I'll set my own Barred Rock eggs.
Local would be best, to avoid shipping. But I'm not coming up with anything in our Craigslist.
What am I looking at? a candy egg?
DO you realize the dangers you are creating by buying him a chicken encyclopedia?Bernie is new to the world of chicken fanciers - he had never seen a non-local chicken until i hatched 23 eggs in my living room on in the Philippines and handed him the chicks to look after.
As each hatch develops into birds his favorites shift.
Right now we have very nice English Orpingtons in Blue Black and Splash as well as Jersey Giants in the same colors (well Orps have pink feet while Jerseys are yellow). They are spectacular birds and are his fave because they are also laying well. He likes the buff orps too and prays that the month old chick we have is a roo. I am sure things will change as the younger chicks feather out.
I sent over an encyclopedia of chickens. I am getting requests for Polish, Houdans, and any top hatters from Analou.
100% hatch? As in every egg? Thats awesome! Consider yourself pro!our 100% hatch is doing well,
we have 80 birds in the brooders.
One more hatch of 30+ on Saturday then we will Mareks vaccinate the lot.
Pox virus vaccination Monday then out to the coop with the older 30.
