Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

Glad to hear all is well after the winds went through.

Nice web site too.........loved the gallery and the photos
of the plumeria......I'd kill for seeds or cuttings.

They would go well with my purple passion flowers.

Good luck on your farm plans and permits......sounds
like you have it all going good so far.

Mrs Oz has collected many of those Plumerias from all over the world. She is the epitome of a gorilla gardener.

Some pick up trucks have a 220V connector too. I wonder what kind of power you could take out of a car charger with an inverter.
probably a 1000 ways to do it

i think with big money on the line i would want a standby generator that kicks on automatically

less chance of loosing 500 chicks

With our salty environment, the simpler the better. Fancy electronics just dont last. My 47 inch TV lasted 18 months when it was in an enclosed cabinet.

I have a 2000W USP that I can put between the batteries and the incubators.

Sliding a bar on a breaker box and flicking two switches is not that hard.

I'd keep the batteries and use the generator to charge them as needed, less fuel consumption that way since you could wait the six hours to see if the grid kicks in again.

Coming out of lurkdom. Oz, what an amazing and wacky adventure you have. (I did read all 844 pages...well, at least almost all of your posts within the 844 pages! Whew!) Congrats on the adoption, the farm and all your plans. I look forward to hearing more.

I'm not far from you (when you're stateside, that is) in North OC. I have a small flock of 4 (with plans to add 2-4 more later....hmmm though my city says I can legally have 20 ;) ) and a backyard that I'm turning into my own little urban farm.
