Some pick up trucks have a 220V connector too. I wonder what kind of power you could take out of a car charger with an inverter.

less chance of loosing 500 chicks

With our salty environment, the simpler the better. Fancy electronics just dont last. My 47 inch TV lasted 18 months when it was in an enclosed cabinet.

I have a 2000W USP that I can put between the batteries and the incubators.

Sliding a bar on a breaker box and flicking two switches is not that hard.

I'd keep the batteries and use the generator to charge them as needed, less fuel consumption that way since you could wait the six hours to see if the grid kicks in again.

I'm not far from you (when you're stateside, that is) in North OC. I have a small flock of 4 (with plans to add 2-4 more later....hmmm though my city says I can legally have 20 ) and a backyard that I'm turning into my own little urban farm.
