Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

i paid $25 at the walmart for mine

great price

but............

do i really need one if i'm going to let my ducks/ broody hens do the muscovy egg brooding?

i'm sure if i put enough time in i could get these eggs to hatch out

but what is the point?

the ducks do little or nothing all day anyhow

why not put em to work sitting :D

they need to earn their keep around here

That seems like sound reasoning

We do have some nasty spots too though, we went to train the dogs a couple of days ago, and I was in charge of throwing dead seagulls into a lake for them to then fetch. The best spot to do this from for the kind of training we were working on, was from the reeds. On each leaf in the reeds, I saw about 100-200 of these miniature mosquitos we've got here (Ceratopogonidae), and of course they all decided that I was a delicious meal. I've been scratching my legs like crazy since then.

When I first visit the Philippines I reacted violently to the mozzies.

Then one day they stopped bothering me so much.

Now I itch for thirty minutes and it's over. I just have to keep busy during those thirty minutes.

Because we have a breeze most of the time there are very mosquitoes at the house. BacK on the other side of the fence at the farm we get a few.

Mosquitoes just LOVE certain people. I'm one of them. I swear once one finds me, they call the family over for a reunion. My poor son is the same... that boy cannot set foot outside. And his swell up bad too. My step-son will have no bites whatsoever, my baby boy is covered in red welts.

The other day I even had a honey bee trying to land on me over and over again.. I think he was thirsty and I was damp from working outside.
