Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

I am back in the USA!

The flight was a good one. I sat next a guy from Beverly Hills that made the awake time interesting.

Before I left we made a self unit for the garage. It is 8'x8'x2'

The coco lumber was the hardest I have ever used. It could not be penertrated with a nail gun. Next were concrete nails and a palm nailer. No go either. Then we used a 3/8 speed bore drill bit. it just spun until i changed to hammer drill mode. it twisted the spade section. Finally we used a 12" long 3/8" masonary bit and bolts. Yikes.

@piglett

did I miss the report on your child?

I am heading back again in late Nov/Early Dec if the birds and weather are cooperating.
the baby is "still cooking"

should hatch out any day though :)

Mrs Oz arrived last night.

Her sisters from the Phils and their husbands are in town also. It turns out we had four days straight where someone related to my wife was on PR102 from MNL to LAX.

Last night we stopped at the US based sister's house on the way back from the airport for a few beers. It is fun when all of us are together.

This evening I got my updates from Cocobeach. The new plan is working so far.

Since I left we have had a feed delivery, administered vaccinations to piglets, given Ivermectin to goats and have mixed about 200kg of feed.

All logs are completed. Rona took photos of them and sent them. It removed uncertanty and saves typos and reclarifying input into a smart phone.

The piglets are averaging 10.8 pounds at 2 weeks. One of the girls is a rockstar - over 11.8 pounds - My keeper gilt. I introduced them to early wean feed at 5 days. I will switch to my feed mix over a week from day 25-32. They will be weaned on day 28.

I've been obsessed with free range chickens lately and have done my research in making coops, brooding, and other helpful tips. I'm a newbie here and have no prior experience of raising chickens. Indeed, I've learned so many things from this forum.

I'm interested in getting a trio from you but I have to start in building a coop. I'm planning to build the coop same as you did, using indigenous materials. Once done, I'll get in touch to order.
