Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

I am scrambling today to see if I can get some local "less heritage" birds.

I have still some great breeds coming but the quality of the birds from Dick and Frank are legendary - you know - you have some.

Right now I am down to Dorkings, Orps, Turkens, SPRs for LF. 5 of my major breeding groups wiped in 2 emails.

,I will contact Odyssey Ranch in Lancaster to see if I can get some New Hampshire Cochin and Cuckoo Marans. in quantities of at least 18 by tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that bud. Things will come around, move some from trip 2 to trip one and those from trip 1 to trip 2

Stuff happens. Like Frank Reese said, shipping eggs in snow storms is not a good idea.

I still have lots of eggs, lots of breeds and am going to have a lot of fun.

Next trip will be the heritage breeds, turkeys and guinea fowl!!

First Dick Horstman let me down with his shipment. Now Frank Reese had a winter storm and could not ship the barred rocks and giant Jersies.

I originally was going to rely on these two orders. I am glad I did not.

It supposed to be spring. This weather is killing me.
i almost thought about slipping a few BBS orpington eggs in that box ....BUT
it would have only been a few & i figured it would make extra work for Bernie
Oh i did get my new splash cockerel
i'll have to post pictures, all i can say is W O W

I am sure Mrs Oz wouldn't mind getting her quail earlier...lol
Now I just have to fine a 100 quail eggs between now and 9pm thursday...................

my kids have discovered quail eggs - they love a pile of boiled quail eggs as a snack so I absolutely must have them.

This trip I will design quail cages and get Bernie the Filipino Chicken Phenom to knock some out for next trip.
