Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

A quiet day in the Philippines

Bernie and Dado started working on the coop. Ben and a laborer are still working on the fence. They have completed about 80 feet of the 440. A second load of 400 cinder blocks, 30 bags of cement 8cm each of sand and gravel arrive tomorrow.

The next round of home laid eggs should hatch tomorrow also.

I will have Bernie candle the peafowl and turkey tonight.

Congrats OZ!!! My first foray into crossing my own meat birds has begun tonight. I set 25 eggs...the cross is
Dark Cornish Roo x barred rock hens
Dark Cornish Roo x bresse hens

Here's hopin!
For some reason I've never thought of crossing the bresse with a dark cornish. I'm very interested in the results from that. *plotting how to get hubby to accept MORE chickens for meat raising purposes*

We culled another non producing coconut tree

2x2x10=35pcs=116.6board feet.

2x3x10=41pcs=205board feet.

total of 321.6bf @ 5p per bf equals 1,608p or just about $38
sounds like you will have Bernie building more coops soon

It's an experiment we plan to reverse the process between Roos/hens to see how type size and meat develop between each. We want a self re producing food tasting meat bird that we can butcher around 12 weeks so they don't have the issues of the Cornish rocks so well see.

OZ if we're successful we'll send eggs your way
