The success on local hatching continues.

we have scored a hatch rate of 87% and 86% on the last 2 hatches. There are 33 due in Feb 25 and another 36 on March 1.

Based on current hatch rates and eggs set we will have more than enough chicks for the chicken mission. Lots more. I have 43 chicks and 110 mutt eggs in the bator. Additionally I am hatching easter eggers, barred rock/leghorns and barred rock/orpingtons to add if I need to.

The mutt egg collection as been suspended. We will probably end up putting half the hens in the freezer next week. They have done me well but I need the coops.

I dont think so. I may try selling some at the local market but they will get the same price as a local chicken - everything is basically by the kilogram.

Swapping? nah. It wont work.

I was thinking about that bamboo you harvested to use on.....what was it?.......part of the fence? Anyway, if it is found growing wild, maybe some of the local teens would harvest it for a couple of chickens.

I keep my labor records very clean.

I understand what you are saying but honestly I have a bunch of their progeny at point of lay, 40 purebreds between 6 weeks and point of lay, 46 mutts in the brooder and 200 hundred eggs in the bator and the breeding pens.

They may just have to become part of the free range landrace experiment
