Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

I have one lament regarding power tools: They are all sized for the big, burly he-man with some serious muscle. Power tools go a long way toward leveling the playing field, so women can get serious about building, and repairing stuff... But... there's still a disadvantage here. Male muscle mass already has the edge, but when you add the issue that a lot of women have... being vertically challenged... now, that just adds insult to injury. I'm 5' 1 and 1/2" tall... on a tall day, and the most despicable tool for me to use is a weed wacker. I'd even rather play with a chain saw than a weed wacker. Other woman's lament... pull cords to start those small engines. Why do they have to make them so ****** long????
LOL.... point made... Designed for men. Though if its been tuned well It should start before you get to the end of the string.

As a Mechanical Designer I would often go to the production line and watch people work. To determine if the tools they were provided were suitable... Repetitive motion can really sabotage a production line. My expertise though is hand tools and holding fixtures. IF I had my druthers my favorite tools for ease of use and indestructability are by far air tools. Because the air does the work therefore there is no motor that has to be supported while doing the work. Air tools have their own issues though. Especially for working out where there is no electricity or where you cant set them up for the work.

I am glad to see there are some brave souls still staying at the beginning. I am going to have to go back and copy/paste it so I can edited the story into a ebook. I have had many requests to publish this.

This Tuesday may be a great place to end part one with the departure of AnnaLou and Bernie as full timers
Awww.... Sniff sniff....

my wife likes to build stuff for the chickens

so SHE now has her own jig saw

it isn't so powerful that it will "get away" from her (unlike a skill saw)

she will also use a drill with a #2 philips screwdriver bit

Yeah, the tools my husband has scare me some... they're much more powerful than the tools I had when I used to do projects. Had this lovely Black and Decker Firestorm. Jigsaw, drill and sander 3-in-1 on batteries.. . Some of those tools my husband has are so darn heavy I don't dare to use them, afraid I'll drop them and take my arm/leg off!
