Are the places at the ends of your brooder some kind of heat source? I haven't seen those before. I've started using a heating pad raised up so the chicks can get underneath to stay warm. That way they can be adjusted to day and night from the beginning.

they are very high tech usps box sides lol - i put down cardboard with feed on it so the chicks eat feed instead of rice husks on day one.
