I may have been looking at the same chart.

I tried to use that calculator in the past when looking at what crosses we would get from our mixed flock, kind of made my brain hurt back then....gave me the saem woozy feeling when I opened it again this morning!

I like the sound of an auto sexing EE, especially if you can get them with some meat on them. Maybe some Salmon Fav in the mix for some beard and five toe action. I think they were in the red sex link chart though.

Perhaps another issue with Auto sexing is I could create a breed instead of a hybrid

From a purely "big business" mind, I want a great chicken that does not breed true that I can produce in quantities with the price that people afford.

Eventually all my purebreds will be throughout the islands like Greenfire Farms cream legbars. While I will celebrate the improvement of poultry in the Phils, I will miiss being the guy to buy them off.

Speaking of pig semen

I just found a farm that just sold its 170,000th dose.

Not a bad business.....

I sent off an email. I need a reply tonight so I can coordinate estrus off all three gilts while I am there for Antonia's birthday

The complex version is downloadable so you can use the website off line - great for me at CocoBeach and allows you to follow F1, F2 F3 and so forth, then use another cross breed as well.

I am guessing that a red roo over a barred hen will give a sex link.

So a local hen crossed with a rir will give me a black patterned red columbian

The pullets from this cross will be covered by a barred rock roo to give black unicolor barred with red leakage

We now have our barred female parent stock

A secret recipe red rooster covering the barred female will give black unicolor barred with more red leakage

The final product will look like a Rhodebar and will be sex linked but if they are mated then the offspring explodes into hundreds of genetic vaiants with either barred or black coloring

I already have 10 pullet chicks from the visayan rhode island reds. My secret red rooster will start when I get there but I have Red Leghorn, Red Dorking, RIR and NH to mix and match lol

Back to pig semen

I called the company and got to speak with somebody very fluent in English that knows her job!

They have sold 170,000 doses at 700 pesos each and 12000 at 1500 each. Thats over $3 million in sales..

I gave the gilts a hormone called PG600 today that will bring on estrus next week. This will make it easier for me to time insemination a few days after tonis birthday while I am there. I want to be in control of this.

We will get three different boars. A landrace, duroc and pietrans. We will keep the largest three gilt weaners from each. The weaners will be raised and then inseminated by the same breed of boar to give 75% pure gilts. After three generationd we will import show quality boar semen from USA and should have great GP stock boars One more generation and we will have 92% pure stock. Its a five year plan but a great project.Pig 21 will sire piglets for our remaining 6 gilts

I loved to shop the cattle semen catalogs (years before the internet), the photos of the best of the best are amazing.

I told myself that I was gonna read the whole thing before I joined or posted anything. But I'm only about halfway through - only at page 350 or so of over 750 total - I have a bit to go yet. But I just have to say wow.....I mean WOW! What an epic read this is. Big congratulations to the "crazy chicken man". What a fantastic "project". I sure hope it all works out. Don't give me any "spoilers" I want to read through 'em all - each and every post.

And I don't have any chickens - I had some experience with 'em long ago. But not anymore - life path didn't go anywhere close to that direction. But I'm sure enjoying reading this - doing a little vicarious living while lost in it.

I have one little request. At your convenience (I mean it - only at your convenience) could you please post your recipe for chicken adobo? There's a bunch of 'em on the web, but I would like an authentic "Philippines" recipe, if there is such a thing.

You see, I'm a retired old geezer who has taken up cooking as a sort of hobby, plus, I had to learn how to feed myself. Chicken adobo sounds a little exotic to me. I was in the Philippines many decades ago, but never was allowed to get out and "experience" the country. It's a long boring story. And I love rice.

And, oh ya, I'm one of your 'merkans. In the interest of full disclosure.
