that wire is two 16' long cattle panels from TSC

they are a pain in the @ss to transport unless you have a long enough trailer

but once you get them to your place & you put em into an arch they are plenty strong

i run two 2x4's up on edge just under the top

doing so made sure that heavy snow would not destroy the thing the 1st winter

it's made 100% out of scrap lumber from the local dump

i did have to buy the $1.99 latch that keeps the door closed

i got the idea from a guy on youtube

just search "chicken tractor" & you will find a bunch that people have made

I ended up with five or six of your new England whites.

They are big chickens.

They may be worth you developing
they are bigger than the mother which is my best egg layer

i have a few pullets in the cockerel house

maybe i should set em up in another pen with my biggest N.E.W. rooster ?

Piglett and Oz, the typhoon in the Philippines has apparently reached the news threshold for our papers too, the images look rough. Hopefully your families are safe, they write of at least 370 000 people being evacuated.
it will hit north of my inlaws place by the looks of it

the old cement block house is plenty strong with rebar wrapping over the top of each rafter so it stays put

all of the fishing boats will be pulled up into the road so they don't get washed away

as long as it's not a direct hit they should be okay

thanks

I can't remember where I first saw you mention the N.E.W.'s, but I do recall that I was intrigued at the time. What is their growth rate like? What about development of breast/leg meat? They certainly look like they have a big frame.

Terrific job on this. I want one just like it. Especially with extra wood around.

There was a pretty cool coop design in the coop section, with the cattle panel raised up on pallets. With a bit of extra work, you could make a really cool and good looking walk in coop and run like that. They also did composting in the run, which is an idea I like.

The plywood could be cut a bit more carefully, and I might choose something else than a tarp for the roof, but other than that, I think it looks pretty good. And if you're less picky about aesthetics than I am, this would work as is.

I also like the netted end of Pig's coop better. What's the height in your's, Pig?
