I just managed to get a milage ticket all the way to Bacolod!! My recent flights have been filled with dramas as I try to upgrade. Now I am past 45000 flight mile for the year, I can use up a few of the 250000 miles I have in the bank.

Next run leaves August 19. Lorenzo turns 3 on August 31.

I will probably only take new Hampshire, SLW and Rhode Island Whites if I can find them.

I have 2 bikes for the kids I bought off craigslist today. They are heavy little buggers.

i ordered a dozen SLW eggs from ebay

most of the birds looked like hatchery stock but this persons birds looked great ......

3 arrived all smashed, 1 blew up in the bator (smelled great by the way)

1 fell apart when i went to pick it up to candle it

the rest were clear

so watch out

I think i'll get on the SLW thread on here & ask who has eggs

I sidestepped counting chickens before they were hatched - went straight to counting chickens before they were laid.

I really dont want to have a squillion birds to raise. Though I am sure the demand is there, I will stay conservative for a while.

I take a small deposit to ensure that the person is genuine and the put them on a waiting list.

On day 14 I will candle and inform them of pending delivery. On day 18 as the eggs go into lockdown I give them 24 hours to pay the balance. If not I will contact the next person on the list. The eggs hatch Sat and I ship airport to airport to airport on Sunday.

Conditions of sale include a provision for a delay due to hatching issues. If I cannot deliver within 4 weeks of estimated delivery time I will offer deposit refund or an alternate breed.

This is not dissimilar to hactheries in USA but they take the full amount in advance. People also offer pre-sales on eggs on eBay all the time.

I will set double the amount of the orders I have.

Chicks are sold at a minimum of 10 per order. I will throw in 2 extras as a bonus or to cover incidents in shipping. Any extras that are less than a full order I will sell as juveniles but the last thing I want is hundreds and hundreds of birds that I am trying to sell.

Currently I can sell all the barred rocks RIR, Jerseys and Orps I can hatch. Despite strong demand, I probably wont be selling Australorps, SLW or NH for a year as I want them for sex linked projects.

I have a local place that sells SLW.

You can try Dick Horstman in PA. I have his Rhode Island Reds as well as his Silver Penciled Rocks via @La Palma Chicks and OGM. He has heritage SLW.

His eggs are 20 bucks a doz plus shipping

Some might find the crowing idyllic - our neighbors look at me in shock whenever I ask if it's bothering them and suggest that I can process them immediately if they feel it's a nuisance.

The better half suggested I should change my nickname here to "The Crazy Compost Man" due to my affectionate relationship with my compost bin.
