Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

They really look like beans

Inday left for Bacolod on the 7:15 bus from kabankalan. She will arrive to pick the kids up from school and then spend lunch with them before putting them on the 14:00 bus to CocoBeach.

The chainsaw guys are still at it. I have had the buzz of either a weed whacker or chainsaw in my head for 5 days. I am looking forward to the sound of kids playing instead of 2 stokes.

The form work for the first two fence pillars are almost complete.

The screens we have on the bedroom windows are fairly new. The old aluminum frames lasted 5 years. When they make them, they use aluminum screen. With the onshore wind it decays in 5-6 months and thus we are replacing the screen component with fiberglass screen today.

I have another PVC ball valve that sprung a leak. It's part of the rennovaton done 6 years ago and the builder concreted it into the wall. I have to chip out all the concrete around it to replace it.

Lots to do with projects but the house maintenance is a priority.

Termites have a finer deposit. This is not termites.

These bugs are less damaging but annoying. There is just one or two that get at it - not like a colony of anay-anay as they are called here.
up here we ave the Powder-post Beetles

they leave a super fine looking sawdust

i went to home depot & got some spray that you apply to the wood where they are enjoying lunch

a month later they had no signs of life

2 LBC shipping boxes will be sent out of here on Wed.

1 has a plywood crate inside it containing a great running 13hp Honda engine that will power the family's fishing boat

the other will have a chainsaw that should make quick work of taking down old coconut trees.

i want pig pics once the little ones arrive OZ

take care

@piglett

I spray a trench around the house and ask the footings for termites regularly.

I will replace the ceiling in the bedroom shortly. While it is down we will hit the rest of the attic with permethrin.

This house is almost 50 years old. Ask the hardwood was selected for its termite resistance and is rock solid. It's just the ceilings.

When I have the budget I will replace the lot with plastic. There is a faux wainscot here that I am looking at. The stuff is not cheap and my internal and external ceiling add up to 4500 sq feet

Yes I much perfer the sounds of happy kids over them screaming 2 strokes!
Normaly PVC is easy to work with, but inside a wall, let alone cement would be a nightmare in the making.
Good luck with that one OZ!!

We are just part the magic 5 years of a house. Even though this house is half a century old we tore everything out of it.

Unfortunately Filipino PVC valves are a nightmare. The two that just started to leak have never even been turned on and off. There is a one inch valve just about 10 feet away so they did not even need to be there. I have to cut then out and just put a couple of couplings and a straight pipe. It will take half a day to chisel them out. I don't have cold chisels so it will be a concrete nail and hammer

I need to medical help of the forum. One of my mixes pooped and something looked odd as it was a lot of poop. I went over to check it and found what looks to be a round worm about a half inch long alive moving in it. I have Ivermectin pour on and need to know the dosage in drops to put on all the birds. I have 13 large fowl and 11 8 week old silkies. Thank in advance.
