As it is going to be torn down when the new house goes up its getting GI roofing. We prime and paint both sides prior to istallation then seal nail holes with "galvaseal" goop

so the long & the short of it is some people don't want a fishing pole, they want a never ending supply of fish from you

The hands out for the freebies is never exclusive to just the tropical climates...see that here alot too. Sigh--there are people ready to come out of the woodwork when they think they can take from those that earn something by working for it themselves. Have something nice, usually the greedy sloths will not only want what they think is their portion of the item (sense of entitlement runs rampant!), but ruin it for good in the process of swarming it so nobody benefits.

I remember my very first big purchase (besides land with a house or a vehicle to drive to work in!) was a scookum rototiller...36 payments at $100...I was ever so proud to bring it home and EVER so pleased about paying it off. Meanwhile I guess the snoopy neighbours realized I had one (got to use it alot more often than the town ones we rented for $85/day to prepare the shelterbelts & veg plots with--always a hassle going to get it, hoping the weather held so you could use it...getting it back before you got dinged on another day's rental & praying it never gave up the ghost and you had to pay to fix it back up). Next thing I know, the one couple down the road that owns commercial greenhouses for bedding out plants and a tree nursery THINKS I am gonna swing by (me and my tiller) and do up ALL their tilling needs. No mention of money to cover depreciation, fuel, busted tines (like I would bother...I wanted MY purchase to last my lifetime, never mind me body lasting too--bumping about behind a rear tined tiller!)--jest that the neighbourhood now had "inherited" a tiller with operator! Guess I was not a good neighbour now because I never did show up for the free for them work bee. I have visions of the wife stretched out on her shady recliner (cold beverage for her in hand) instructing me on how I "missed a section" and that last boulder patch I run up on..."maybe I could shovel it out since I was there already!"

Reminds me of that saying, "what is mine is mine, and what is yours is mine too" or even...

Want someone to appreciate something, make them work for it, eh? Probably the best kindness is paying a decent wage for a decent day's toils and not taking advantage of someone worthy of a proper life.

I think what Oz does is well balanced and his "getting the flock out of here" is a lovely shining light many of us would do good by mimicking. The Oz's are wealthy in the sense of their bounty of happiness they earn the right to harvest ...and they got that way because they worked at it and keep working towards their powerful goals.

The powers that be, help those that help themselves...and I don't mean HELP in a sense of lifting a set of tires off your parked vehicle overnight so you can't get to work either!

Wonderful economical marketing signs Oz (for piggies and cackleberry sales), like your status report listings (great way to stay in the loop), and the kids...yeh your lovely, so precious children...those kids look marvelous swinging on the bars and cooking breaky. Thank you for those warm love filled images!

Speaking of warmth...it had to warm up here to snow...

You are always welcome to come in the GREEN season for the fresh <<squeezed>> orange juice, (absolutely fresh) eggs, and (fresh baked too) white or brown toast!

Not so much CULTURE Vehve...how about CLIMATE shock...heh heh heh...

It usually is a DRY cold, eh? Not so bad without the HUMIDITY to chill one to the very bones!!

they have experienced natural temps as cool as 60F in the mountains and as high as 96F in Cavite. They will be in for a shock, even in LA

when my niece came to the USA in April when she was 10 she said she liked it because they even had the AC on outside.

Tara, I have had the fun of living in a place that was so cold that the fuel oil was like jelly, and had to use heat tape to keep it flowing.
It didn't need any humidity to be bone cold.
