Can't have too many good uncles! He's a lucky boy that you are giving him the opportunity to use all that exceptional potential. Big sister too. So many kids never get the chance.

Ever wonder how I spend my evenings...

Back story: the 150 egg hatcher pooped out. The heating elements had burnt out and i needed it up and running. We (with remore intruction converted from heat rods to light bulbs. Now we need to fine tune it.

it sure takes some patience. I almost lost it when the 50 watt bulbs suddenly came in to play. I have a good idea of my inventory so i was upset that there were none.

knowing the farm well is key. I know every facet of the place.

We accomplish a lot with a couple of smart phones.

We sorted 26 point of lay birds that were not tagged last week by using photos and descriptions. Thank goodnss jersey giants have yellow feet and orps have pink. Once they understood that, we were faster.

We have another batch of 32 to sort next week. From there on ib we should be ok with bird identification.

I am a firm believer in using sourroundings and all activities as education. While I was there we spent a lot of time talking about evaporation and condensation with cold water glasses. We then moved onto clouds. Finally we looked at gas pressure and how air moved from a balloon to the outside. The principle was then applies to low pressure areas and the typhoon that was hitting us.

All this at 3 and 4 - yet they understood.

Toni is a great sister. She will defend her brother and even stand in front of him to protect him if he is getting in trouble. She does not have the mental capacity of Enzo but she is still pretty smart and works hard to learn when she wants to. Its all about making it fun and administering it in small enough bites that the kids can grasp.

Whoa Oz, that was one long conversation. You could try getting some sort of photo editing app on your phone, that way you could draw on top of pictures to show exact spots or which thing in a pic you mean. Of course, doing it in text improves their English, so it's easier in the future.

Hope you get the temps stable.

i do circle things on pictures, it works well.

temps are good enough for hatching, we just transfer to hatcher for last 36 hours. At that stage and with our heat, the thermostat barely kicks in.

when we ship birds, i get a photo of every bird that goes in each box.

prior to administering injectable meds we verify bottle with photos

If I had a squillion bucks, I would install a satellite link and wifi the whole place. alas that is not the case so the "whats app " app is our friend. the farm phone only uses less than $7 worth of data a month.
