Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

The piglets are weaned. Well actually we kept the three smallest piglets on pig 2 and 3 until tomorrow to help time estrus on a day we can get semen delivery.

Our pricing is based on piglet weight.

Smallest are 5kg and 1900 ($40)
Heaviest are 8.5kg and 2900 ($61)

Most of the piglets sold are the lightest one, which for me is counterintuitive. I seek the fastest growers.

The people buying are poor and after something they can feed scraps to and eventually sell. We had one customer pay with 190 coins.

I would love to sell them all this week but it will take longer unless I sell to a trader at a lower price

It's good that you're offering an oportunity for those folks to make a little money

That should not be underestimated! You're doing a lot of good there for the local economy, Oz.

Ompoy and Dodong are doing well.

I am not so sure about Ariel. I feel his time with us is nearing an end.

He was given instructions to plant lilies along the fence but planted them along the path.

He had supposedly been making barriacades around trees for three weeks but completed just 5 ( they are made out of four 4x4 panels made from lumber and barbed wire)

One of the two security lights on our house has been broken for 2 weeks and the other was still on at 0900.

The beach as a mess when Mrs Oz for there yesterday and there were fallen coconuts all over.

Mrs Oz just stopped by the farm to pick up the copra to sell at the mill in Dumaguete. She will return on Sunday to drop off copra meal and pick up chickens for shipment.

Next week is the last week of summer vacation for private schools in the Phils so they will all hang out on the beach for most of next week.

Mrs Oz will probably find a replacement then.

Its sad but he really just does not get what he supposed to do
