new diagnosis on the sick kid

we are out of scalpels so we will try a 14g needle and if that does not work, a pocket knife

my instructions to a very nervous syrel

Step 1
Soak knife in 1:4 bleach water to use as back up.
Step 2
Hold goat firmly
Step 4
Feel 4 fingers behind ribs on left side
Step 4
Clean area with alcohol
Step 5
Clean area with Betadine
Step 6
Wash hands in Betadine
Step 7
Put 14g needle on a syringe
Step 8
Insert needle in one inch. Pull back on syringe. It should pull back freely. If it pulls back freely then disconnect syringe

The biggest syringe is 12 and needle is 16.

We have aspirated 1000ml of air thus far

So they took our 2500 ml of air so the diagnosis was very good.

She has had 60ml of castor oil and a dose of combipen 48

Its probably dry bloat from too much dry feed and not enough fiber feed. We will have to monitor the kids access to supplemental feed.

Just as the needle came out, so did a piglet.

Fortunately the procedure was being performed on the work bench in the piggery.
