Soooooo............ while we ponder what is happening in Ozland.

We need to hatch out some replacement stock as the flocks are approaching their
3rd, and some their 4th, year in production. We need new stock in our Lavender
Ameraucanas, Black Copper and Blue Copper Marans and our OEs. I'm trying to
think of all the pros and cons of hatching all at once or should we stagger out the
hatches and have chicks all summer long. I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on it.

Depends on how you're hatching, if you're using broodies the mommies will probably take care of the chicks, but if you're going the incubator and brooder route, you'll be introducing new members to the flock throughout the summer. On the other hand, putting all your eggs in one basket means that if you get sudden setbacks like illness or predators, you're more likely to lose all of your chicks.
