I have laid out on the ground where I think I want the coop. I have drawn up the coop from all sides. This view is seen with the back side closest the camera and it faces the pond. The wooded area is to what I will call the right side of the coop. The pitch of the roof will face the woods. Our property is oriented east/west and I'd rather not have the afternoon sun reflecting light into the house off of the roof. Also doing my best not to make an eye sore my wife will have to look at from her office.
Additionally, I'm not sold on the tree staying there. I thought perhaps at this moment it is going to provide some extra shade for the chickens. It, and the tree directly behind me are the two problem trees I have identified as the shade makers for the garden, but that is mainly in the late afternoon.

The total footprint of the coop/run area is around 6ft x 15ft.

Backside: Site of the storage area. Which will take up about 16-18 inches of the coop. I hopefully will have some solar battery backup in this area. Additionally, it wouldn't be much to run electric to the coop as there is electric hookup nearby. The idea of a mostly self sustaining coop is rad.

Front of coop: The ladies will have an electronic door to keep them safe and on schedule. A door for cleanout for me. What I forgot to draw in was an extra window for viewing and light.

The left side: Also called by me - the business end. Perhaps a bit weird as some part of me would think the front would be where the apex of the roof line would be on a lean-to style roof. Laying boxes placed here so they are easily accessed by my family. I should've drawn an extra window here as my need for a symmetrical look is starting to kick in.

The Right Side: This side faces the woods of my neighbor's property. Including the water catchment rough draft which will be mounted higher for gravity's advantage.

And the arial view of where the chicken tunnel would potentially run.
Although, I'd like it to take a turn around the garden. Still very much playing around with this idea.

Every time I'm out and about I try to get one item to prepare. Bedding, feeder, water fount. I have spare large containers, my old heat lamp, and various other things.
I hope to make updates a regular thing.

My daughter is psyched. I am pumped.

The space you are planning is only large enough for 6 or 7 LF birds.
I would extend the vents to run all the way to the edges and all the way up to the roof line framing. Definitely add at least one more window. I'd put a long one on the back too. Hinging them on the top will allow you to leave them open during rain storms.
I'd also go ahead and run the electric line to the coop. If you live where it freezes during the winter it's very nice to have the option to plug in a heated water fount. And to turn lights on when it's dark at 4:30 in the afternoon! You may also someday want to run hot wires around your setup if you find you have a predator problem. I keep my birds behind an electrified poultry net because I have among other things, a mama black bear that lives in the woods behind my house who has been on my property multiple times. There are also fisher cats, raccoons, coyote, fox, the neighbors rotten dogs, you name it. It's just nice to have that extra security.
It would also be a very good idea for the same reason to put a solid pitch roof on the run also. Have you planned on a predator apron?
Are you also planning to cover the run and all of your window openings with 1/2" hardware cloth? You want to be able to keep out small predators like weasels as well as making openings too small for raccoons to reach in.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions! We are only wanting about 6 birds.
More windows are a definite.
Yes, the hardware cloth and rock apron is an absolute and I may just run the electricity now you mention it. I have seen feral cats, other dogs, fox, raccoon, and river otter on our property.

Adding the pitch to the rest of the run was a second thought, but I now see that as another "gonna do".

Again, thanks!
