Hello again! After letting The Duke grow and develop more, I can't help but want to continue this beautiful color pattern he has that i've dabbled a little in the limited research I've discovered. He is the only one of his color that I have, and I was wondering if anyone more knowledgeable about Paints and Ghost Barring could help me out?

I would love to eventually get his line to a more APA Standard of Perfection and I am aware it will be a lot of work to do and take a long time, not only with the rare color genetics but also from the fact that he's also a hatchery chick. But I can't help but want to try.

So my question is what should I breed him to, to continue his color? I understand that Paint also does not breed true in a sense? Do I use Blues to enhance the barring? Whites? Add Barred as well? Right now I currently only have Red Pyle hens and Roos and one BBR Roo. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Here's some pics of this little man, he is currently 8 months old:wee

Paint doesn't breed true because it is one copy of black and one copy of dominant white.
Paint allows the barring to show, but most likely, two copies of dominant white would just be white. To get stronger barring breed him with barred hens.
Then you will get 50 percent barred, 50 percent ghost barred offspring.

Hmm okay, and those offspring would i breed back to him for the Paint, or would i have to find a Dominant white and a Black pair to make normal Paints without the barring then breed back to the Ghost Barring or normal Barring? 🤔

Breed his offspring back to him or with each other. Either way you will get half paint offspring.

Ghost barred paints would be one copy of dominate white on barred so that's all I'd use.
Barred as much as you can to lock in all females with barring and all males with double barring.
Then also keep the dominant white going by using single or double gene dominate white birds.
I wouldn't use Red Pyle or BBRs at all. Dominate white doesn't cover gold/red tones so once brought in that will be showing and something you'd have to breed out.

I see! What if you added in Crele? Would it have the same effect as Barred? 🤔
