I haven't had any personal experiences with ghosts, animal or otherwise, but there is a famous ghost dog in England. Can't remember which castle it is, but it's open to the public for tours. Many people have reported seeing a cavalier king charles spaniel on a certain stairway. Some visitors are very upset that dogs are allowed into such a historical place and complain to the front desk, only to learn that it is a ghost dog that many people see.
My step sister put one of her cats to sleep a year ago. She told me that for several nights after, she would feel him jump up on the bed and lie down next to her. I think it's possible, but she was on oxycodone at the time, so I do have a certain level of skepticism for her particular experience.
I've lost many animals over the years and never been visited by them. I would welcome a visit, though...........
