Giant Silkie True Blue project

How’d they turn out?

Just starting to hatch F1 chicks (batch 1 was not labeled and batches 2 and 3 got put in the incubator 12/29/2023 all labeled and sorted)
F1 crosses are:
Cochin cross Americana
Silkie cross Cochin
Silkie cross Rudd Ranger
Whiting True Blue cross silkie
Whiting True Blue cross Cochin
Whiting True Blue cross Rudd Ranger

The cochin line I acquired is so large I eliminated the Brahma portion of the project. This choice might make the comb more difficult to get back to Walnut, but the foot feathering and general fluff should be worth the risk. For now, the breeds included are set as Cochin, Silkie, Rudd Ranger, Whiting True Blue, and Americana. I'll be posting pics of the parent stock at some point in the future hopefully.

We have a very strange update… so F1’s are hatching but the results of my silkie cross Cochin are not what I was expecting. Here is a pic of the rooster and a pic of the hen. Later I will post a pic of the chick/s. Any guesses what their chicks should look like? (The photo of the hen is not mine but mine is from show lines)

We have a very strange update… so F1’s are hatching but the results of my silkie cross Cochin are not what I was expecting. Here is a pic of the rooster and a pic of the hen. Some will be chocolate as rooster is a chocolate some in theory should be black unless they are both split to other things

I'm planning on breeding Whiting True blues with my silky to get blue laying silkies. I'm excited to see your progress!
