are giant white cochins really "giant"? are they any bigger than say a standard cochin?
Some say they are, some say they aren't. To me, no...they're not. They are the same size as Standard birds as the APA doesn't recognize three different sizes of chickens.
i hav a friend who wants to make some giant cochins! we were gonna cross a whit cochin with a white jersey giant. how big do you tink it would get?
That wouldn't be a true Cochin now would it? That'd be a Jersey Giant x White Cochin mix. The possibilities are endless. Good luck on getting a quality WJG.
It would be a big bird... but somewhat smaller than the giant.
i would say so. we just wanna see what we could come out with. we finished developing a brooding breed that is kinda hard to get on the market but it was a cross between barred cochin x blue silky, we crossed that bird with a oeg bantam x rir bantam. when that bird went broody for the first time, she hasnt gotten off of the nest for more than two weeks for the last year.
