Hey guys!! Summer has been so crazy. I don't have time for an update just yet but I promise I will really soon. 2 nights ago though, Gil was shaking a tiny bit and seemed a little dehydrated. She threw up, drank extra water and then seemed perfectly normal again. She's eating and drinking the same as always. She just threw up again today and I have no clue why. There are some scary thunderstorms going on making the dog sick. I don't think that's the case for Gil though. Any ideas? Should I worm her again?
Thanks guys!

Poor Gil! Is there any chance she could have eaten something she shouldn’t have? Is she currently laying? Any change in diet, including just opening a new bag of the same food? Does her crop look and feel normal?

@Daphne_loves_mealworms
She feels completely normal and is acting completely normal other than when I noticed her throw up. No change in diet at all, still finishing the bag I got from TSC. I do want to change to a different brand but its a flock laying pellet and she was doing great the whole bag so I don't think it has anything to do with her pellets. I am remembering right now though that there was one slight change... We've been out of meal worms for a little while because TSC is so far away. I brought mealworms home from the barn. However, these mealworms from the barn are for the chickens I care for at the barn. Not to mention, they're rich like VERY rich (You know Dr. Oz?... yeah... very rich...) So all the food and shavings and hay they get are super high quality. I am positive they did not slack on quality of meal worms. Also I feed the chickens these meal worms every day and the chickens love them. They're just the typical dried mealworm... I did give her maybe more than I should have the first day I brought them home though.

@HuffleClaw Layer pellets, oyster shell that she eats as needed that has a tiny bit of grit but she doesn't eat the grit. I was feeding her cracked corn as well over the winter but discontinued that for summer as it wasn't her favorite to begin with. Water, water, water. She's been eating the tiniest bit less to drink more but that's a good thing because she used to rush-eat and forget to water down! You'd catch her coughing once in a while and see her stopping to remember to get a sip of water! Luckily now she doesn't down all the food and portions it and drinks water in between. So she's still eating a normal amount just smaller portions more spread out.

She hasn't laid an egg in probably 5 days but that also doesn't surprise me because 2 days in a row we scrambled her egg and fed it back to her and the following 2 days she laid double eggs. After laying double eggs she usually takes the next day off so I am not too worried about this 5 day break after laying 5 eggs in 3 days.

Her food is stored in a dry, cool container in the room with us. There's defiantly no bugs/mold in or around it.

I am wondering if she got sick because it's close to 100 degrees out and she didn't drink enough water the one day. That's the night she was shaking a little bit.

Should I worm her or dose vitamins? She doesn't seem sick at all. No symptoms other than the one night and the throw up a day later. She's still pretty happy and quacky too. I just want to know she's better because it's nerve wracking when she doesn't feel her best!

I will get pictures of poo

Thanks everyone

Get poo pics then decide if worming is a good idea. When was the last time you did worm?
I believe I last wormed 4 and almost a half months ago. I think some people go with every 3 months, should I keep up with every 3 months? Also is there anything stronger than ACV I could pick up now in case she does have worms?

I always read that waterfowl don’t get parasites like other poultry because their body temp is so high around 107. Unless they are kept in really nasty confinement. I really don’t think you need to worm every 3 months maybe 2Xa year. If you take her places where other waterfowl hang out. It may have been in Storeys book on raising ducks.
