Hello all from Gil and I!
So today Gil decided to wait to lay her egg until I was standing next to her pen. The only other time she did this was the first time she laid! The first time she laid though I was up at 6:30 am. Today I didn't get up until 9 am because Tuesday's are house chores/deep cleaning day but I don't have to be up at a certain time for anything. So she waited until 9 to lay her egg. I started recording a little late because at first when I got up and she was still in her house I was afraid she was egg bound. I walked over and nope, she popped it right out! I got a video of some of it! It started out with her in her house just trying to find a comfy spot for a minute then she pumped her tail a few times and it was done. It took her maybe 3 minutes total. Afterwards she took like 30 seconds to slow down her breathing and then was all set for the day!
There's not much to update. Her pen never actually got finished so it still has painters plastic on the bottom to protect the floor with her blankets/towels for bedding on top. I tape down all the painters plastic and lay out blankets/towels on top and then I had to use a reptile lid to block off the back of the pen. She was pushing her blankets aside to make holes in the plastic! Luckily with the reptile tank lid there, she can't get to it and stopped trying. Her waterproof bed is shoved behind her waterers because she doesn't use it and it's blocking off another spot where she made herself some access to the plastic. She still has her boots and sleeps on them sometimes still! She doesn't play with her keys too much anymore but I was keeping them up to keep her in the pen for a while. She's back to being a good girl all the time though and hasn't even attempted flying in maybe 2 months!
She's always smiling for pictures!
I love ducky silhouettes!
