Hello, BYC friends!
I have 2 silver laced wyandotte pullets (presumably) that are 3 weeks old today. I also have 2 black giants (2 weeks old), 3 cochins (3 weeks), and 2 easter eggers (2 weeks). I read that SLWs tend to mature slower than other breeds, but mine are nearly double the size of the other breeds. They started off the same size as day olds, but have since sprouted like weeds. They're also double the size of other breeds I've owned at this age, including sapphire gems, welbars, and other easter eggers. One of them, Henrietta, is the most precocious chick I have ever met. She's even bigger than her SLW counterpart and is clearly, at this juncture, at the top of the pecking order with the way they're herding the other chicks and taking the lead to investigate possible dangers. Her coloring is consistent with photos of other SLW chicks. If not a SLW, what in the world could she be besides the She-Hulk of pullets? TIA!
