Girls pulling hay our of nest

Depends on the chickens. If they keep kicking the stuff out of the boxes, you may need to raise this lip up a bit. The birds may stop kicking out the bedding eventually. Try putting some fake eggs in the boxes. They may be kicking it all out looking for eggs. Mine did this looking for eggs and stopped kicking the bedding out when I left fake eggs in the boxes.

Mine did same thing. I switched to wood shavings and mine stopped kicking out as much.

For about a week now my girls are taking the hay out of there nests. We have 8 nests and they have the hay out of 6 of them Can someone tell me why?

well, a couple of things, i would try or check is if they might have picked up some mites or maybe the hay is uncomfortable?

like, maybe they dont like certain flowers or grasses in the hay if its new.
Or

did you change the roosts?
if the nests are higher than the roosts,they will try to roost in them.

maybe they are just "persnickety!"
