They can be real masters for sure. Mostly mine didn't escape, but they were well fed and happy and in a firm 4" wire fence. Now, for the nigerians, I have very carefully made them 6" fence tacked top to bottem with wood runners to keep anyone from escaping. DH didn't think we'd need to be sure nothing could squeeze under the fence (and thus get itself under the barn) but I assured him QUITE FIRMLY that they fence must go completely to the ground, and be tacked to wood.
