Girls vs Girls

My little ones in first grade. They can be quite pesky. Of course, there is always that one kid you really do want to stick in a trash bag and bury.
Shhh don't tell them the plan

Hi girls.

Got back from the shooting event. IT WAS AWESOME! If I wasn't so tired (from waking up at 4 and not going back to sleep) I'd go take pics of my AMAZING shots today. Its my first time shotting anything other than bb guns and .22 rifles. I actually own a deer rifle (.305) and a 16-gauge shotgun, but I'd never shot either.

First, we shot 7 different hand guns, 5-6 rounds each, with shooting instructors with us the whole time helping and advising. I got 4 bulls eyes!!!!!

Next, we shot arrows. And learned to track deer. (ketchup and a fake dear ya'll) Still, it was fun.

Third, we shot air rifles. Not impressive overall, but I had excellent clustering, which means if I adjusted to sight for me personally, I'd be clustering the center. They told me over and over that was good.

Fourth, we shot shotguns!!!! We actually shot clay pigeons. I totally got 7 of 15 there. I AM TOTALLY NOT KIDDING. It was most impressive. My shotgun coach was terrably excited cause that was amazing for the first time, some people never get them. And, I shot left handed left eye dominant, and he was a lefty, so he was 2x as awesome with advice for me. I totally know how to shoot my own 16 gauge now. (but, not until the bruises from today heal. I held the guns tight and all, but my shoulder just isn't used to this sort of treatment.)

Fourth, we shot muzzle loaders. OMG those are LOUD GUNS. Oh, actually, they don't qualify as guns, since you can't just put in a bullet. It takes like 30 seconds to load if you really really know what your doing. Takes me about 2 minutes. You actually measure out black powder, dump in the barrel. Get oil cloth circles, and put it on top of muzzle, then stick in a 1/2 inch ball (like a ball bearing - think Laura Ingalls Dads gun), then you use a toop with a nipple to push the ball in a little. Then, you starting using a flible rod to work the thing "tap tap tap" down into the barrel. Finally, you try bouncing the rod off the ball at the bottem. If it actually bounces back up all the way out (which take several tries, and a bit more packing), you flip the gun over and add the little cap thats what lights the gun powder. Then, you pull the first trigger. Then, the second trigger, and if your lucky, it hits you HARD and is LOUD. I did NOT shoot bulleyes here. I counted myself lucky to hit the bloody target at all! Other people hit the wood around it. LOL. Glad it wasn't me.

Finally, .22 rifles. We got to shoot like 10 different ones, so that was pretty fun, and I did get 5 bullseyes, but I've shot these a bit. I got excellent clustering again, and so we set a site just for me on one gun, and then I got 3 bullseyes in a row.

I am sorry, but you shoud sign up for the first one after that birthday. (they've had, and will continue to have them) I think shooting for sport is fun!

Wish we had a sporting club here. I guess I should make one.

I doubt there is much money in it, unless I became an educator, then I could offer lessons and classes to make a living. At the one today, not a big fancy one at all, but very practical, usefull, and fun, they only charge $40/year for individuals. They get a gate key and access to shooting. They target for 50 cents. Even if there are 100 people, that is only 4K a year. Individual lessons are $150/2 hours. Classes are from $30 up to $150.

I got a free class (for handguns) as a prize today, and its worth $150. I'm wanting to sign up for the concealed weapons class.

Oh. I thought theyd make more

I suppose in a big city, with a fancy pants place maybe, but around here I'd be having to cater to lots of normal folks who just want to shoot and practice, and maybe hang out once a month. However, I wonder how many people would join?

Sorry I'm back and forth. I kinda fell asleep on you.
