Girls vs Girls

Kevin, eat yet??

Maybe we shoud inquire about a differnt moderator format. Maybe it should be a cross section of the BYC POPULATION, instead of this. But, running a bit site is tough, and you can't have everything. At least we don't have to work, just show up and play.

I expect the leghorns to be early layers, and the EEs can lay on time but i EXPECT the silkies to brood most of them time so I can complain like the rest of you of having too many rather then not enough

Oh, have I told you about my 'broody', well, she broods all over night, half the day, then decides to call it a night and runs around with the other hens -__- soo, she has one egg and I keep telling her if she can stay on the next for a FULL DAY, then i may give her more after a couple days of that -___- , but she keeps refusing my offer and letting her egg get cold
You need some Bantam ducks! They will not give up on brooding things. I have two who have been trying to go broody since March ._.

Let her have several eggs. Most won't sit without enough eggs. Most just lay, and hang about, then take off and lay again tomarrow. Thats the way of nature. Get some of those fake eggs, and give her half a dozen. Once she sets her but for 3 days, sneak in at night and exchange eggs. My Mom also would but wire in fron of their next box, and mark the hen with a spray of paint mid back, and let her out morning and night for about 20 minutes, then put her back if she wasn't back allready.

I gave her like 5 eggs at once, and she let them get cold

And she had sat on them through the night (and 2 hens added to it...),

Our last broody hen must have been a toughy- she would only leave if you forced her and she never got eggs. We just sold her, lol (well we sold all of them)
