They get a short quick firm no. With them it's all about attitude not size. Sasha's much smaller than him but he knows he's below her.

I don't alpha dog much, but I had to with both this mastiff cross now twice the first week, but he worked it out quickly, and with my old chow cross. Both of them are programmed to think they are in charge. That little adjustment worked wonders. Wolfs would be a whole new ball of wax.

Glad your mastiff picked it up quickly. I think Wolves are actually easier to train to understand their place. They have a much stronger bond to a hierarchy and once establish it wouldn't dare to question it.
