Truthfully you get used to it. Like, it was 30 this morning, and I was FREEZING, but come spring when it gets 30 out I'l be jumping on the trampoline w/ no coat, no snowpants, just boots to keep the snow off my feet! You just have to adjust, trust me

I'm sure I'd adjust, but the question is do I want to???

Well, anything below freezing is tough on chickens, since they are natural to warm climates. I think geese in anything below -15 need to be closed in to help keep them warm, period.

I found my dads old deed to his Alaska property a week ago. It was in Ancorage. No idea what their weather is.

As you can see some of Alaska even gets into zone 7, which is warmer than I get her in Kansas. (the aluten islands I think the parts to the south are called) Probobly not Cochins part though. I'm just amazed that their are parts of Alaska as warm as some of Oklahoma!
Yeah we can sure get warm, lol.
Anchorage is more cold windy type, with lottsa snow. Valdez the same way. We're in fairbanks, so we don't get too much snow, and typically not too cold. However, there are freak years.

Valdez had sooo much snow they got 300inches in a day, then they were giving away free snow just so people could navigate around

Alutien islands, ya. A-loo-shun. Don't know how to spell but I can prononounce it tho! :D

LOL!!!

On the subject of bears.. In denali park a man was killed by a grizzly, (first time is like 90 years) and a woman working for a mining company got bite by one and dragged over rocks, and, yup. We've had 3 bear sightings by our house I think, but its mostly moose.

Once a mama moose and her2 babies (one of them was as tall as the durango!

) kept us from coming in our house cause they were in our yard and we got back from eating out

Love that mama! Haven't seen her in a while tho!
