Girls vs Girls

Kevin!

How are you? I see you did make it on last night. I must have just missed you!

What are you up to today? I've been messing with the baby chicks. We've lost threen, so I had to go rearrange. Put the 5 older baby silkies alone, had to get the whole brooder thing set up for them, and got the little new hatches alone. All seemed a bit chill this morning, so gave them insulated tops for brooders, and will go check in two hours to be sure everyone is warm and happy. Hope so, some of them cost $7 each. Turns out Javas die easy. Darn it, they cost the most.

I think I have a cold...again. *Sigh*. I think I made it in right after you left

Oh no!

. I hope you don't lose anymore of your babies! Especially with them being so pricey! Did you guys get a cold front up there too? I know we did last night and it's freezing this morning

Yes, darn shame too! It was mid 70s yesterday, and 30 last night. Only gonna barely get in the 50s today. The geese don't mind, but I do. I increased the corn in rations this morning.

Wow that's quite the drop! My geese don't seem to mind either. Then again they enjoy standing in the rain

If we had down and feathers we'd be good too! Soon, though, I have to seperate out the sebbies from the other geese, and get the into a tighter building for cold nights and rainy days. Those curly feathers aren't as heat and rain tight as the others are. Not nice and smooth. They wouldn't be able to live without extra care in our area.

Very true. That's the only thing I don't like as much about sebbies. I'm glad you have a great set up for them! Pretty soon you'll be a big time sebbie breeder

No, I won't have that many ever, LOL! I don't like anything that needs too much work. I had only intended to have two pairs of geese, both sebbies. Thats why I got them from Celtic, I wanted unusual attractice geese. However, I wanted lavanders or blues, but I've got whites and whites w/grey spots. LOL The other geese are for lower maintainence.

LOL! That's sort of how I feel about the bantam ducks. They are really pretty .......but if they free ranged they'd be eaten within the hour. I think the white sebbies are just stunning!

Call Ducks and sebbies, all very cool, and everybody want to own them, but nobody wants all the trouble. They just want to say "I own call ducks" or "yeah, I have sebbies"..... Me, I want to say, the money from those eggs and offspring bought food for the entire flock for a year. Yep, I want fancy birds to support me having the birds I really want. LOL

That is exactly it! They are stunning but not practical for everyone's situation.

LOL! That's a great business plan! I tried to do that with the peafowl.....then I realized how much I hate them.
