Girly Hurley Lost her chickens

I am so heart broken. My dog got off his chain and killed every one of my chickens. It took everything in me to remind myself it is just a dog's nature.

Anyway. We are gonna reinforce the cage and maybe build another plan for a different space for added protection.

Just felt like sharing our loss

Got an incubator? How big of a flock do you want? I've only hatched out 10 doz of my eggs but so far it's 100%. I'll throw in some eggs to help you rebuild. Actually I've never mailed eggs, maybe I should look into it before opening my mouth lol. But if it's easy enough I'm willing to send a few dozen BJG's your way to help your cause. Neighbors lab won't even go up against my roo!

When I come back from visiting my Mom and Sister we will rebuild our coop with reinforcements. A buddy of ours is going to help us find more chickens and I am going to work with the dog to train him to leave the chickens alone. I shoulder the blame for this happening because I didn't properly train him because the chickens were so new.

Dogs and cats just dont think like us do they. They act on instinct and instinct can be cruel. I have found craigslist to be a great source for chickens. I have developed a nice working friendship with a local breeder through craigslist.
