The thing with shipped eggs is first of all they need to rest and check as sometimes the air cell will detach and are more prone to air cells that are more of a saddle looking one, also egg elevation at laying and hatching can cause issues because of the differences in porous and density I believe was what I was told, it is best to hatch eggs laid near the same elevation

Yes, I let them sit for 24 hrs. My elevation (220) isn't much higher than Florida's. I think it was the distance across country, the 3 extra days it took USPS to deliver, and the general condition of the eggs themselves (as if the hens laid their eggs where they slept), that made the difference. Perhaps if they had gotten here in two days like they were supposed to it would have worked better. Who knows. I should have ordered them from a closer source, but couldn't find the exact birds I wanted close by. Most of the air cells were detached, including the one that hatched. Even in excellent packaging, I just think they were jostled too much by USPS. They (USPS) say don't ship it if you can't toss it 20 feet without breaking it. Well, that's what they said to me when I was shipping artwork from a gallery. We used only FedEx after hearing that.

@ValerieJ @aart I moved her a comfy nest in a kennel when it was pitch black. She has a fake egg in there. I opened the door 20 mins ago and she came out after 5 mins. She angrily dust bathed for 10 mins but has done nothing but pace back and forth for the last 5 mins. I locked her in the kennel again and she’s sat on the egg again now. What should I do? If she was pacing then she can’t have wanted to sit there.

Eh, the pacing is normal when you move them(they really don't 'like' to be moved),
but she went back to the nest so that's good.
I'd give her another day before adding eggs...wait until she's been sitting tight for a couple of weeks if you're going to add chicks.

I agree with Aart. Also, I don't think we can force the brooding process. I don't even think we can persuade them to do it. Hence, I bought an incubator. I sure hope she settles down in the new comfy nest and gets/stays broody. It really is fun watching a mama hen hatch and raise her chickens. Nothing like it.

one thing I found is it never gets there on time sent UPS . First shipment of live chicks arrived all dead so tracked closely and when I saw it had arrived in the major and was having issues at SLC and could not make it here in time I put a intercept at Pocatello which is about 120 mile drive one way from me and we drove with food and water for them, happy to say that saved the replacement chicks lives they were already in poor condition but perked up. I was so mad I called around, FedEX will ship eggs and live chicks which is something new they decided, looks like cheaper and they will get them to you on time, Before USPS was only option now we have a more reliable way.

The eggs came today just as I was going back inside. I put them to one side to rest until tomorrow. No broke. or damaged ones, but all have saddled air cells, so I won’t expect much. But if she will sit to term on these and none make it I’ll buy her a couple chicks. I opened the kennel again and she didn’t come out this time.

good luck with it, @Ridgerunner might have some advice , saddle isn't as bad as detached is all I remember

How big is the kennel...pics??
Is there room for feed, water, stretch the legs, and poop?
Best if they can do all that on their own timetable.

I don’t have any pics but it’s big enough for her nest, food and water but I’ve left the door open into a run, which has a dust bath and is big enough to flap her wings, walk about and graze at the grass. I opened the door to the run a couple hours ago and she hasn’t been off the nest since.

Does the rest of the flock had access to her space?
They may not get off every day.
When segregated from flock it's pretty easy to monitor feed, water...
.... and those huge broody poops are hard to miss.
