Getting ready to set eggs for the first time EVER and it's gonna be in my homemade bator! My intentions were for the two my EE left before she died suddenly, but really there's space for 6! Give me ONE good reason NOT to fill it! Alright, here's one, I only have space for 1 more hen.

Would anyone be interested in buying some chicks if I get extra?!

Having extra eggs in there is good insurance in case one decides not to develop or to quit.

I'm sure you can find someone to buy the extras.

This from the person contemplating a cabinet incubator for HUGE hatches.

Enjoy yourself and don't steam up the glass!

not fill...um...that is an option?

would you get a six-pack of diet Mt. Dew with only five in it?

Would get a dozen doughnuts but only get 11?

Would you get a box of girl scout cookies with only one sleeve of mints in it?!!

No I tell you no!!!! Fill it till it is bursting at the seams!!! Then get a bigger bator cuz 6? really? 6? that ain't big enough....never gonna develope a proper addiction doing that...get a sporstman...then a couple more...

Let me know how many hatches you do before you upgrade to a bigger and better incubator.

It's all about the toys...

There is no good reason to not fill a bator, that's a waste of space. Besides, the fuller it is the better the hatch. Temp fluctuations don't mess up a big hatch as much as they do a little hatch, so I can't tell ya not to fill it. Sorry I am NO help whatsoever
