How old do chicks need to be before knowing. I posted pics before but got no responses. We have a coming 4 wk Cuckoo Marans that has a bigger comb growing then all our other pullets. We only have one other marans so we're just not sure.

Depends on the breed.

Pea combs are harder, as it restricts waddle growth. Single combs are the easiest.

Some breeds can be sexed by colour. I can tell my Barred Rocks' genders as soon as they have wing feathers.
