given 3 (12-15 month old) RIR hens 3 weeks ago still not laying

We do not know anything about the chickens or how they were being raised. Just that they are not laying for us. We are new to this so don't know if we are doing something wrong or not. We have a small coop with 2 nesting boxes and a good size run area.

Can you show us some pics? Possibly they're roos...gosh, they should be laying at that age for sure.

Was told they were laying when we got them just not since. The person who gave them to us got them from someone else. Could it be stress and getting used to a new place.

What kind of feed are you giving them?

Also are you certain of their ages? Some unscrupulous people will pass off their past prime hens as younger to unwitting buyers who are then disappointed when the hens don't lay as expected. Did they come from a trusted source?

Not sure where he got them. Is there anyway to tell about how old they are?

Yes, stress can make them quit laying & if they are 15 months old they could be going into molt from the stress or if they are not great layers.

I went to a local Extension Office that Started this passed Saturday. Only Agricultural Supplies (no yard sale items) . It was nice ! Any way I got 5 hens for My Mom and Her Sister . They call Sunday Morning and said They had got 2 white eggs and 2 brown eggs . hope Yours starts Laying soon.
