Giving away my boys.... :(

He's beautiful! We have a white Ameraucana rooster, sold to us a hen. Fortunately, we live in an area where we can keep him. Mine are crowing right now...driving my husband crazy;)

We are going to have to rehome our cock, Butters.

He about 16 weeks old and is spending the night in the barn so as to not awaken the neighbors every morning. This is his morning stroll back to the flock. Very well behaved boy and sorry to see him go. He is going to a nice home with 6 hens but we are waiting a little bit to make sure he is more mature before his introduction (or at least that's our excuse for keeping him a little longer).

Well everyone! Good and bad news.....

Good news is....I get to keep the little guys longer.

Bad news is......I eventually have to get rid of them. The people that were supposed to come get them off CL never came!! Ugh I was not happy!

Yay for a little more time!

I can't believe they stood you up like that, though.

We had problems with one neighbor complaining about our roosters years ago, so we moved them to a smaller coop on the other side of the house. Knock on wood, we haven't had any complaints in years. Or, I've heard that keeping them in a dark coop keeps them from crowing too early in the morning...maybe you could find a similar solution and keep your little guys?!

I know how you feel. I had gotten 4 chicks from TSC out of the straight run bin and knew that there was a very good chance I may have a roo or 2 or 3 or 4! A very nice gentleman helped me pick them out and he said he had a high success rate of picking females. He did pretty good 1 out of 4 was a roo. But because I live in the city and can't have roos I had to find him a home. The man that helped me had given me his number and told me to call with any questions. Well once Cheese started crowing I knew I had to find him a home because one of my neighbors wasn;t very understanding about it (I was in denial! he was so sweet!). The man who helped me wanted to put Cheese in the freezer. My kids begged me that we had to find a home where he wouldn't be dinner....very hard to do! Finally when at TSC one day I was telling the lady who worked there and she offered to take Cheese and keep him as a pet with her 2 chickens! Cheese is living a very good life in the country now! I was very sad and so were my kids! Been there done that!
