giving chicks a bath?

i have a chick that is a day old. he is covered in dried gunk. he's having some trouble opening 1 eye. can i give him a bath or how long do i wait.

I'd suggest you wipe him with some cotton wool dipped in warm water. Then keep him under a heat lamp until he's dry. You can use a wet ear bud to clean his eye. Start at the beak end and gently wipe backwards, towards the ear.
