I am treating a hen for a staph infection with penicillin (my first infections, first injections- hey that rhymes!). I find a muscle in the breast, then go against everything my mind is telling me and stick the needle in, pull the plunger back to check for blood then slowly push it in. I have been able to do four successful injections so far, but it hasn't been easy for either of us. I either don't stick it in far enough or too far. I've tried to slowly put it in, but the hen freaks out then. Does anyone have any tips for controlling depth the needle goes in? I'm shooting for 1/4 inch. Thanks!
