giving water to chicks??

i have no chick water so ive heard using a dish with marbles can you explaine this in detail , i dont want them to drown

if you put marbles or stones in the water dish, if they fall/climb into it, they can stand on the marbles/stones and not drown. When they are small they can drown in a very small amount of water.

you can elevate a saucer untill you get something better. lift it high enough so they don't have to lean over much.

You can sort of make your own by using a lid to something that has a 1-2 inch lip. Take that and fill a little with rocks or marbles and then take a bowl turned up-side-down in the middle so you have about an inch all around the lid for the chicks to get the water. That way they will not fall IN the water.

To sterilize them, I would think boiling them for a minute would do the job.

Hydrogen Peroxide for 10 minutes-- then rinse with warm water.
H2O2 is just water after being exposed to air for several hours.... so once rinsed in regular water--- VIOLA!! Clean, sterile, and non-toxic!

Can even add Peroxide to the water you use for houseplants! Adds oxygen to the soil and kills the "bad bugs" like mold & algae that can occur in the planters!
