Ladybird is almost 4 years old. she has a small appetite so I have been tube feeding her on and off the last 3 months so she can maintain her weight which is about half a kilogram less than it should be. she eats, but not enough. she ate these seeds a couple days ago and obviously not being digested. her crop is slow, but does empty. she eats granite grit everyday. she has 20 percent all flock crumbles, i have been giving her probiotic water. she gets cold easily so sleeps in the house so she doesnt shiver and waste her energy. outside with her sisters during the day. fecal is negative. they were all dewormed last month as well. she has not had an xray to see the gizzard or other organs. so expensive. no external parasites. I did a molasses flush a couple months ago and did not seem to help. Anyone have some advice or suggestions that has dealt with this before? Her sister Ophelia, passed November 21, 2025 mareks. same age as ladybird. Maybe its Mareks, maybe its not. l want to get her digestive system going properly again. Please reach out if you can. thank you.
I just recently read about moro carrot soup to clean things out. wondering how to do that and how much?

You will be doing the Epsom salt flush two times a day for three straight days. As soon as the solution clears out of the crop, she can be fed.

Encourage her to eat her regular feed. Too much reliance on tube feeding can reduce her ability to feel hunger and want to satisfy it by eating. I'm sure you know this and only tube feed when her weight is dropping. But tube feeding should be a rare thing if at all possible.

What are you feeding her? I'd give her wet mushy feed, omit any seeds/hard to process foods for the time being. She can have a little egg, sardines/mackerel or bits of cooked beef as a little treat a few times a week. Make sure to provide Grit (Crushed Granite) free choice.

I was feeding baby bird food, poultry cell and probiotic water via tube. Now I'm using her crumbles ground up in coffe grinder. She's being feed twice a day now. Eats very little. She eats grit everyday.

Some observations from one of your other threads.
I would continue to provide Grit free choice, don't force feed it to her. I'd also Omit seeds, corn, etc. which are harder to process for the time being. If you want to give a treat, offer something softer as previously suggested.

Does she have a mite infestation?
