I have had my chickens two years now. I’ve lost a few and am down to 17. I only have Buff Orphingtons. In my pre-owning research I found they were a good all around bird. Good for meat or eggs. They are good layers, tend to go broody, and are good mamas. They are also a pretty docile bird. Which was good for me as I like being around them. My rooster comes around for the occasional pet and will eat out of my hand.
I also have goats and guineas. Two beautiful Great Pyrenees guard them all. Oh I can’t forget the two new barn kitties. What a help they are. Better mousers there never was!
I’m a retired school teacher. we bought our farm 8 years ago, but only moved here full time 3 years ago. So my husband and son are with me. We are happy and healthy here in the Ozark’s! I also have a big garden each year. I can, freeze, and dehydrate what we don’t eat! 😊
